Well, that special time of year has passed again.  One year older and hopefully a tad wiser.  This year will be the beginning of my perpetual twenty-ninth birthday.  That’s the magic age that everyone stays at, right?  But, in all seriousness, this was a great year for me.  I graduated from college (after being on the 10-year-non-doctorate-program) and my music career passed from a stage of vague uncertainty to a point of actuality.


Do you want to know the best thing I did this year?  Of course you do, or else you wouldn’t be reading this, right?  Okay, so here it is:  The best thing I did this year was buy a whiteboard.  Yup, this simple thing was the key to my success.  I know, I know, you must be thinking, Whauh?!?, but really, it’s true.  The reason it was so significant is that I used it to write down some specific goals I had for this past year.  I succeeded in some and with some I fell short, but I did see my biggest goal come to fruition, which was to become a full time musician.

So, here we go again.  I use the time around my birthday to ponder my past year and look forward to the year to come. So, time for a new set of goals. This year I want to share one of them with you. This past year I spent most of my time working on the business, and not so much the music. That’s not so good really.  Thus, by September 13, 2011, with you as my witness, I vow to write twenty-four new songs.  As I write them, I’m going to share them with you.  Maybe I will record demos, or post lyrics, and maybe even make a video or two.  Either way, I will also give a little bit of a “behind the music” look at each of the songs.
